Essential Items for Entryway
As soon as you walk in the front door the first statement made is your entryway. It is often difficult to determine what can be done within an entryway because of its odd shape or lack of space. Regardless of your entryway here are some things you can do to make your entryway fit your needs and make a statement for anyone who walks in the door.
1. Coat Rack
When family and friends, come into your home they need somewhere to put their coats. You don`t want them to have to lay them on a couch or over a chair in another room. If you have a front hall closet, that`s great because your guest’s coats can just go in there. However, if you don`t here`s a solution for you: add a coat rack to your entryway. Depending upon the size of your space you could have a wall with hangers attached or you could have a free-standing coat rack. This will allow your guests to feel welcomed and invited and also keep your home clean and clutter free when guests come over.
2. Rug or Mat
In most entryways, it is key to have a rug or mat for guests to step on as soon as they walk in your front door. Although it is important to have a durable and water-resistant rug, you also want it to make a statement. Find a rug with a bold pattern or colours to make it a statement piece within your entryway. However, make sure that although it looks pretty it can also get the job done of keeping all the mud and dirt out of your home.
Incorporating seating within your entryway is a great way to invite your guests. This seating area is a great idea to allow guests to come in and sit down and take of their shoes or have it there for whatever they need. This will allow guests to feel comfortable and welcome as soon as they walk in your front door. This seating can be done in a variety of different ways including a bench, a stool or a chair. If you choose a bench you can even find one that has some sort of storage solution underneath which would maximize the storage you have in your entryway.
4. Accent Mirror
Through adding a mirror in your entryway it will allow the space to fill open regardless of its size. A mirror will also add a focal point within your entry way without making it overdone. It will also double as an extra mirror that you can take one last final look before you leave the house. This mirror can be any size or shape you feel will work best in the space. You can have a mirror with a thick frame or one with one frame. Anything will work depending on your personal preference.
